Do you need a building permit?

  • Permits that do not require a plan review (i.e. furnace, water heater, AC, water softener) can be secured and paid for online. Another option is to drop off the permit application in the City Hall vestibule. Permits will be issued once payment is received via mail or utility bill mailbox outside City Hall. Permits that require access into an occupied home will not be able to  be scheduled for an inspection until further notice. 
  • Permits for lower lever finishes and remodels that require a plan review should be submitted through email at permits@lakevillemn.gov. Another option is to drop off the permit application in the City Hall vestibule. Permits will be issued once payment is received via mail or utility bill mailbox outside City Hall. Permits that require a rough-in inspection will be scheduled and conducted only if everyone in the home is healthy. Permits will be available for pickup in the City Hall vestibule or will be emailed.
  • New home and commercial/industrial permits are required to be submitted electronically at permits@lakevillemn.gov and will be reviewed electronically. Once the review is completed, the permit will be issued only when payment is received via mail or utility bill mailbox outside City Hall. Permits will be available for pickup in the City Hall vestibule or will be emailed.
  • Water meter requests will be processed and can be scheduled for delivery to the site or placed in the City Hall vestibule once payment is received via mail or utility bill mailbox outside City Hall. Once approved the permit can be issued when payment is received via mail or utility bill mailbox outside City Hall.
