Building Inspections

The Building Inspections Division of the Community and Economic Development Department is responsible for plan review, permitting and inspection of all new construction. City inspectors ensure that construction meets the prescribed standards regulated by the State Building Code for the safety and security of all residents.

A building permit is required for many building projects. Discuss your plans with a building inspector at (952) 985-4440 before you begin to determine whether you need a permit. A building inspector will answer your construction questions and can provide valuable advice.
