Contact Utility Billing to set up water service.

The City has a contract with RMR Services to read residential meters for billing. The meter readers wear identifying clothing and drive specially marked cars. Meter readers record usage from the outside readout device; they do not need to enter your home.

Utility bills are sent out quarterly, through the City's Finance Department. Your utility bill includes fees for water, sanitary sewer and street lighting services, as well as fees for surface water management and state testing.

Water conservation tips

  • Water your lawn before 6 a.m. or after 11 p.m., when water demands are lower and no water evaporates from the heat of the sun. Make sure to follow City ordinance, which prohibits watering any day between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., and only allows watering on an odd/even schedule depending on your house number (if it ends in an odd number, you may only water on odd-numbered dates on the calendar; if it ends in an even number, water only on even-numbered dates on the calendar).
  • An established lawn needs only one inch of water per week.
  • Automatic dishwashers use 12 to 25 gallons of water for each cycle. Avoid using the "rinse only" cycle and wash only full loads.
  • Repair dripping faucets. Even a slow drip can waste up to 15 gallons of water a day. Eliminate drips by replacing worn washers, O-rings, packing, and faulty fixtures.
  • A leaky toilet wastes hundreds of gallons each day. To identify a leaky toilet, place a drop of food coloring in the full tank. If colored water enters the bowl without flushing, water is leaking from the tank.
  • Save water by running the minimum number of regenerations necessary for your water softener to maintain water softness. Water waste can occur by either cycling the softener too often or off-schedule.
